Speak Up for a Child Today!

There are over 2,000 cases of child abuse and neglect currently in the DC Family Court system.   It is the goal of CASA for Children of DC to recruit and train a volunteer advocate to serve every one of these children.

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) are trained to speak up for children in the DC Foster Care system.  CASAs are appointed by a DC Family Court Judge to represent the best interest of a foster care child.  CASAs gather information about each child’s situation, submit reports to the court, make recommendations in the best interest of the child and provide the court with valuable insight into the child’s life.  CASAs represent one family or child at a time, and provide the positive, stable adult presence these youth and children so desperately need.

CASA for Children of DC also recruits and trains volunteers to serve as mentors for youth in foster care.  The Building Up Dynamic and Determined Youth (B.U.D.D.Y. Initiative) serves children in the DC foster care system by providing postive adult mentors, without interaction with their Family Court case.

CASA for Children of DC has recruited hundreds of volunteers, but thousands children still need someone to speak up for them.  Please help them by volunteering or by making a contribution today.
